Your help is needed in preserving Northeast Missouri history and historic places.  Each year a little of our important history is forgotten or falls into irreparable condition.  Landmarks of Northeast Missouri is an organization dedicated to preserving this history and the buildings important in its history.

Landmarks of Northeast Missouri is a not-for-profit  501 (c) (3) organization.  It is making a concerted effort to preserve the Old Marion County Jail building and the history associated with this building.  Please consider becoming a member of our organization.

The Old Marion County Jail , built in 1858 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its role as the site where Confederate prisoners were held prior to the Palmyra Massacre - October 18, 1862. The National Register also notes the jail as a significant example of Greek Revival architecture.
